RECENT MILESTONES
As the lead in international new business revenue streams, he led in the successful implementation of three major initiatives and help building the Smart financial services hub. This includes the fastest mobile money transfer service recorded in less than two seconds for the Saudi Arabia-Philippines remittance corridor with the National Commercial Bank, the biggest bank in Saudi Arabia and in the whole Gulf region; the world’s first mobile micro-remittance service in partnership with Western Union; and the bank alliance program enabling at least three leading local commercial and universal banks in the Philippines via the Smart Money platform, an award-winning m-commerce solution. With over seven years of accumulated experience in this domain, he is responsible for strategic initiatives in remittance/mobile money transfer, mobile banking, microfinance, payments and other opportunities in this area. The end-to-end management of these projects starts from ideation to business and product development to integration, SIT/UAT, to full implementation up to marketing communications including regulatory and compliance. He has an expertise in driving successful strategies for growth such as strategic alliances and partnerships and joint ventures, among others with knowledge on its benefits and risks of collaboration. He previously handled the team in charge of mobile advertising, 3G, games and gambling, and new wave communications, among others.
He is currently working on other key initiatives involving major global players on remittance, mobile banking and payments which include MasterCard, Visa, Emirates Bank, a number of other MNOs and foreign banks, among others focusing on establishing key remittance corridors in critical regions specifically North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia. He was always invited as a resource speaker such as by the Asian Development Bank conference in Central Asia on mobile banking and banking the unbanked segment; and provided valuable insights on these subjects for CGAP, SIDA, World Bank and Asian Institute of Management, among others including foreign publications. He is an effective communicator being a senior research associate and associate editor of The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) Philippines, a licensee of UK-based The Economist.
