Mobile Acquiring and Wireless Application Specialist

Sean Martin began his career in 1996 and has gained in excess of 10 year’s sales experience.  Having worked at various companies initially in the transport sector and then in technology, Sean realised his passion lay in technology, and in particular, mobile.

Sean joined Cointel-Simplus as a Business Development Manager in November 2003.  Under the personal guidance of Gavin Krugel, known to be one of the forefathers of Mobile Banking and the World’s leading expert in the Mobile Financial Services space, Sean gained firsthand experience and a good understanding of the m-Commerce environment.

Cointel and the Simplus brand are jointly the largest m-Commerce business in South Africa with a processed value exceeding US$350Million per annum with exponential growth forecasted for subsequent years.

Sean was involved in discussions and negotiations with ABSA, Standard Bank, MasterCard & Visa among others and assisted with the sale and implementation of various m-Commerce products such as SimTransact, a mobile acquiring solution enabling merchants on the move to accept and process payment via credit card using the mobile phone.

Following Gavin Krugel’s resignation from Cointel VAS, Sean joined the WASP department specialising in value added services in conjunction with m-Commerce.  In doing this, Sean gained a strong understanding of the Telco capabilities and requirements in offering mobile banking & payments solutions.

Sean also acted as the business consultant for Cointel VAS on banking and payment solutions in the following markets

·         Pakistan (Telco; Bank)

·         Qatar (Telco; Bank)

·         Botswana (Government)

·         Tanzania (Business Connexion)

·         Namibia (One Cell)

·         Zambia (Bank)
